About us
Sunflower Foster Youth Investment was founded in 2020 as a California Non-profit, providing services to foster youth and former youth in care that need resources to develop a sustainable career and are able to lead stable, productive, healthy lives.
It is our duty to assure the resources set aside for youth in care are made clear and available to youth previously or currently in care, Thus, we exist to bridge the gap of knowledge and accessibility to resources.
Ultimately, by providing personalized assistance to the youth we serve we are eliminating the lateral violence and self implosive behaviors that often stem from frustrations due to systemic neglect and frustration.

Why we do it?
Foster youth and former youth in care sometimes find themselves without the emotional and technical skills to start their lives as independent adults and are more likely to become homeless, go to jail, and experience violence than youth who grew up in stable families.
After her own experience in the foster care system, our Founder and treasurer Jaci Cortez, founded Sunflower Foster Youth Investment to give foster youth a community of support that guides them with access to the resources available which unfortunately youth rarely have knowledge of.
